Elwood

Here’s the news you’ve all been waiting for. Elwood is a male yellow Labrador Retriever. He’s not a big dog. At the moment he is laying quietly under the computer desk. He hasn’t decided to like me yet. I’m okay when I bring food. He will be quite affectionate. When he forgets he doesn’t like me, he jumps in my lap and kisses me. Then he remembers he doesn’t like me, gets down and watches the door, hoping our instructor will come.

Great news

Hi Merrill,

Great news about Elwood. Where did his name come from? How did the training go. PJ and I thought of you frequently and did all kinds of speculation about how things were going as we drove to have Thanksgiving with my aunt and uncle. I’ll forward your message to Jenn, PJ, Mary Krahn, and first news.

Fondly,
Rusty

Elwood Blues?

Elwood … one of the Blues Brothers! The movie had the tagline “They’ll never get caught. They’re on a mission from God” — how appropriate!! Gotta go rent the movie so I can catch the references in your blog writings. Can’t wait to hear more.
peace,
Carol

Yay! (I was hoping the new dog would be a lab!) I am sure that Elwood will be quite use to you very soon. I have been thinking about you and was going to finally send you an e-mail today. Thanks for the news and I will be sure to share it!

Hmmm, Elwood – who came up with that name? Like Rusty wrote – you have been in our thoughts a lot these last few weeks wondering how things were going for you and your new companion. I found some wine labeled “Guide Dog” or “Blind Dog” or something like that where they give part of the proceeds to Guide Dog Association. I didn’t get to drink it though so I don’t know if it’s any good – I took it with us when we wne to Sanibel last week to visit Fred and Wendy and the boys and we drank up their wine instead! Hope you get home soon with Elwood and that he likes Jamestown! Love – PJ

Elwood

I knew a fellow in St. Stephen’s Players by the name of Elwood Peterson – he was the leading man type so it seems fitting that you would have a leader with that name. We never called him anything but Elwood – no El, no Pete, so this will be no problem. Let’s hope he will grow to love you.

Check the time on your computer – the message says 11/28 with a time of 13:16. Dad and Mother.

How cute! I can’t wait to meet him. Sounds to me like he’s already decided to like you, even if he’s not ready to admit it. Good luck with the rest of your training. See you on the 14th.

PS- I left it on Anonymous because I don’t know what OpenID and LiveJournal user mean!

Hurray! Hurray!! Hurray!!!
I am so happy for you. I love Yellow labs; they can be so sweet. Don’t worry, by the time you leave the school with him, you’ll be his lady of choice. One of these days, I’ll have to tell you a funny story about a yellow lab guide dog I knew. May you have many years of loving and guiding companionship with him.

The great duo

Merrill, it’s Brigetta. Long time no talk. Just wanted to tell you how happy I am for you to be creating another dynamic duo. I know pretty soon Elwood will forget he doesn’t like you and be on your lap more than you can stand. Lucky guy to have you. Hope your work there continues to go well and you both get trained as appropriate. Sounds like you are already being the old softy that you are – at least at feeding time. Keep up the good work. Love. b.

Great news!

Merrill-Oh happy day! Who does not love yellow labs?! And the name is super..I see a comic strip title: “Elwood”, or “Life with Elwood”!
We do have to know where the name came from. You will be happy to hear Dylan and Carrie’s Mother is getting better. That place sure sounds like my Fort Benning Basic Training in 1969.If there is a Sargeant Minter there, give him my regards and then run..fast! Tom
